The Launch of The Rickshaw Run Diaries!

You know how I’ve been dropping not-so-subtle hints for a while now about an adventure I’ve been planning in India in January 2013? Well now I’m officially allowed to let the cat out of the bag (though I’m probably more excited than you about this) and shout it from the rooftops:

I’M DRIVING AN AUTO-RICKSHAW 3,500 km ACROSS INDIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With two women I’ve never met (that’s the fun part).

Who came up with this hair-brained idea?

Well it certainly wasn’t me.

The Rickshaw Run India is the brain-child of The Adventurists, who organize (and I use that term very loosely) events like these in an attempt to make the world ‘less boring,’ whilst saving it at the same time.

Haven’t heard of them? Well neither had I. Here’s a taster:

I was blissfully unaware that such blatant stupidity existed in the world until a fateful day about nine months ago. Hannah from Furtherbound sent and email to Kim from So Many Places and I, entitled “Call Me Crazy But…” inviting us on the adventure of a lifetime with her. And against my better judgement and all rational reasoning as to why this dangerous and difficult journey was A BAD IDEA, I said the magic word: ‘Yes’.

But not before Kim did (I’ve always been a follower, not a leader).

You see, I just couldn’t pass up an opportunity like this, in one of my favourite (albeit totally insane) countries in the world with two amazing women I felt a real connection with.

Even though we’ve never met.

So, we paid our fees, came up with a team name, Namaste Outta My Way (props to Kim’s husband Brian for coming up with that one), and decided to set up a new blog especially for the event.

And after months of emails back and forth (where we’ve mostly chatted and counselled each other on our various life crises, getting to know each very well) we finally have that blog. Thanks to the insane creative talent of Hannah, the Rickshaw Run Diariesis newly hatched, alive and kicking.

Whilst still in its first stages of infancy, we will be filling the blog with great content about the event, the story behind it, and how we came to find ourselves willing to driving a three-wheeled tin can across one of the most chaotic countries on earth.

We hope to raise a HEAP of money from our readers (yes YOU!), for Frank Water  who are providing clean water for India’s poorest, as well as recruit some sponsorship to help us make the expedition happen.

Have a business you would like to promote or know someone who does? We’re currently canvassing for sponsorship of the expedition and can offer promotional packages for just about any budget across all four blogs.

Seriously, who wouldn’t want their business logo painted on an auto-rickshaw and driven 3,500 km across one of the most populated countries on the planet??? Where else could you get that kind of exposure?!

Okay, it’s just hitting me that I actually have to do this now, because I’ve told you I am.
